On why I love my first graders.

See these? To you, these may just be crayons. Brightly colored pieces of wax that get stepped on sometimes, broken often and sadly dull quite quickly. To first graders…. These are possibilities. They are hundreds of pictures drawn onto empty sheets of paper. They are a means of creating something artistic, something new, something beautiful. To first graders, these are something to love and something to crave. Something to be excited about! These aren’t just dominoes. Oh no! These are buildings. Castles. Garages. Endless roads that tiny toy cars can ride through and crash into. These are tools to build…

    An Interview with Steve Brezenoff

Today I’m quite smitten to be able to host Steve Brezenoff, the author of The Absolute Value of -1, to my blog! As you may remember, I absolutely loved his book. You can read my review if you would like to see how very much that is true. Well, in an effort not to be too terribly gushy, I’ll stop here and let Steve take the wheel! Below are his answers to some interview questions that I sent. Enjoy! 1) I always like to begin my interviews with a challenge. If you had to create a one sentence mission statement…

    Book Review: Mockingjay

“My name is Katniss Everdeen. Why am I not dead? I should be dead.” Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Gale has escaped. Katniss’s family is safe. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 really does exist. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding. It is by design that Katniss was rescued from the arena in the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell, and it is by design that she has long been part of the revolution without knowing it. District 13 has come out of the…

Using a Cute Font for Your Sidebar and Post Titles

Happy Monday once again my friends! If you’ll recall, I’m dedicating each Monday to something that YOU, my bloggy friends, want to learn how to do on your blog. This week I know that someone asked how to make their post title and sidebar title fonts cute! *** Now I racked my brain to figure out what the best course of action was. See, this is a fairly HTML heavy item to do to your blog. I know some of you are terrified of HTML, and you shouldn’t feel bad! I once was too. It takes a lot of practice…

    A visit from Valia Lind

Today I am extremely fortunate to have Valia Lind, author of Simplicity, stopping by for a guest post! Please enjoy her amazing post on where her inspiration comes from! Valia…you have the floor. My inspiration:  Life is like ocean waves. One minute you’re up, the next you’re down. We all go through ordeals that try us as individuals. Life is the messy bits of the big pictures. It’s made up of simple things that bring us to the victory that is always at the end.  “The true beauty of a soul is the ability to love the simple things in…

    A quick post.

Saw this movie today and I have only one thing to say.  Awesome! I shan’t get your hopes up. If you love action movies, and if you loved the last few (don’t count the third one I didn’t particularly like it either) then you’ll be happy with this one :). My only advice? See it in 3D. The directors who made this movie paid special attention to the 3D aspect when they were creating the movie, and it shows! I love me some 3D. On a random side note, hello to all my new followers! *waves madly* Every time I…

And can you be free if your friends are still captive? Can you be free if your world is frozen in time? Can you be free if you don’t even know who you are? Inside Incarceron, has the crazy sorcerer Rix really found the Glove of…
