It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (1/4/26)

Happy Monday bookish people!

It’s the first real feeling week after two weeks of work limbo. I didn’t take any extra time off so I didn’t descend quite as deeply into questioning my existence as most of my friends, but even having those two Thursdays off in a row kind of threw off my entire schedule. I swore Saturday was Sunday for the majority of the day, and so all of Sunday felt like an extra blessing. So very nice, time to catch and to read!

Without further ado, let’s get into the first update of the year!

Read Last Week:

I didn’t finish any books last week, mainly because my brain was just stuck in this weird limbo space where work felt like a chore and afterwards all I wanted to do was space out. I did also spend a ton of really quality time with amazing friends though, so that was lovely! I’m sure I’ll finish a book or two this week.

Currently Reading:

I don’t know why I decided to read two horror books right at the beginning of the year, but if I’m being honest I think it’s because horror is my go-to genre when I’m stressed. Happily, both of these are pretty damn good so far. King Sorrow by Joe Hill has been on my reading list for a while, and my library hold came in so I immediately dove in. The House That Jack Built I bought a used paperback of at my favorite used bookstore, and every time I crack it open it makes me happy. Old book smell is my JAM.

Reading Next:

Next up on the reading list is The Fox and the Devil by Kiersten White! I was granted an ARC of this and I’ve been waiting patiently to read it so that I can freshly review it for all of you. It comes out in March, and I’m pretty dang excited about it. Who doesn’t love a Van Helsing style story? I hope it gives me what I’m waiting for.

That’s it for me! What are you reading this week?

I don’t read horror but I can see if you were tired and needed something riveting horror would do it. Sounds like you have been waiting to get stuck into the next book up. Enjoy.

Happy New Year! I know what you mean about feeling uncertain what day it was. I felt like I had a bunch of back-to-back Sundays. Being retired, I often don’t know what day it is, but this was especially confusing. I don’t read horror but have been reading lots of mystery/thrillers lately. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
