Warmth.
In truth, my coffee is hardly ever this fancy. Unless I feel like dropping the money on the posh coffee place that’s downstairs at my work. I sure do love this picture though. It whispers “WARMTH” to me, and at this time of year that’s what I love. Thanks for sticking with me, my awesome blog readers, through this weird transition month. If you noticed, I’ve posted a lot more. It feels good. I’ll admit it. The connection that I used to have with this bookish space is slowly coming back, and I’m thrilled! Last year was a rough one.…

Book Spotlight + Guest Post: A Spark of Justice by J.D. Hawkins
It’s time for another book spotlight, and this one in particular caught my attention instantly. Why, you ask? Well, interestingly enough, J.D. Hawkins actually has experience living with the circus! I can’t think of better field work for a book than that. A fatal accident at the circus sparks an insurance investigation that leads John Nieves, a former New York cop, to a list of murder suspects. It seems that The Great Rollo, beloved of millions, had enemies… both at the circus and among his own family. All that is surreal and magical about the circus brings out Nieves’ deepest…

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (11/2/15)
Click above to join in the fun! It’s been quite a while since I’ve done one of these! I’m trying to get back on track with monitoring my reading though, so this is the perfect meme. Let’s get started! I’ve been a bit slow about reading lately, choosing to spend more of my time watching television. It happens! I go through bouts of insane reading binges, and then back to tv, and back again. I have to say though, the three reads above were all pretty great. Dream On Amber especially touched my heart. I’m in the process of reading one…

Kicking things off.
So, this post is a little late. Better late, than never, right? I almost missed the first day of November, and my pledge to post once a day this month. It’s been an insanely busy, but also extremely fun weekend. This time before I head to bed is the first downtime I’ve had. I’m not upset :). It was all well worth it! I just didn’t want to miss post #1. I thought I’d share really quickly what I hope to get out of all this, since Saturdays and Sundays are set aside for “free writing”. The truth is, most…

NaBloPoMo in November
Consider this a heads-up, but I’m planning on participating in NaBloPoMo in November! Most everyone knows about NaNoWriMo and the cheering squads that help make writing less of a burden for all of those people out there who need some motivation. I was happy to find out that there’s the same type of thing for bloggers! Let’s be honest. Blogging is great. It’s also exhausting, and time consuming. Sometimes ruts are fallen into. It happens. I need something to pull me out, and I’m hoping that participating in this will do just that! So expect next month to not be entirely…

Here’s to a bookish Halloween!
Halloween approaches! I won’t lie. Halloween is one of my all time favorite holidays. Although it’s still second to Christmas in my heart, it’s still a holiday that makes me get all wiggly and excited. The thing that these two holidays share is a sense of whimsy. An excuse for adults to be kids again, just for a bit. I LOVE that! As a bookish person, one of the ways I love to celebrate is with some spooky reads. I get a lot of recommendations every year, and I actually have a list of reads I reserve just for the…
