Graphic Novel Review: The Tin Can Society (Vol 1) by Peter Warren and Francesco Mobili
THE TIN CAN SOCIETY is a heartfelt and human look at the evolution of friendships across a lifetime, at disability and ableism, and the destructive power of fame. The first graphic novel of a brand-new miniseries from Giant Generator showcasing the first comics work by screenwriter and incredible talent PETER WARREN (The Incal feature film, Kill Me) with jaw-dropping art by FRANCESCO MOBILI (X-Men, Scumbag) and beautifully colored by CHRIS CHUCKRY (New X-Men, Gen 13). Johnny Moore is a world-famous tech mogul known as much for his work pioneering mobility aids for people with disabilities (like himself) as he is…

Library and Goal Musings
So for the last year or so I’ve been trying valiantly not to purchase any books, unless they’re something that I really really want. I did this because I used to go to the bookstore and just spend because it felt good to bring new tomes into my library. Then I’d forget about them or, worst still, I’d end up really disliking them. It was then that I decided I’d always to try to do the library first. Then, if I really loved a book, I’d buy a copy of it! In 2024 I spent almost $2,000 on books my…

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (3/9/26)
Happy Monday bookish people! I hope this Monday is treating you well, especially those of you who still have to deal with daylight savings time. I woke up to a very dark morning and I’m not afraid to admit that I’m fairly exhausted today. On the bright side, it was smooth sailing on the transit commute to work. So it’s not all bad. Let’s see how my reading has been going so far. Read Last Week: I only finished one book last week. My hold for Don’t Let the Forest In by CG Drews came in, and I’ve been in…

To bloom after the gloom
We’ve reached the part of the year where the sun is slowly starting to stay out longer every day. Where our Southern California weather starts to feel like what the movies always depict it as, and very confused flowers start to bloom in earnest because the days are warm. I love this time of year. It always feels like a promise of something new and exciting. My mood lifts a lot at this time, and it has definitely been reflected in my reading. It’s kind of funny to me that I manage to read more books in the shortest month…

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (2/9/26)
Happy Monday bookish people! I meant to come back to the blog last week, but it just didn’t happen. I didn’t realize how much the things going on around me lately were really affecting me until I hit the weekend and completely burnt out. So this last week I took things easy and was kind to myself. I’m feeling more refreshed, and I’m back! Read Last Week: Last week I finished up It Came From the Closet and I’m holding my review steady at four stars! I liked some of the essays more than others, and one of the narrators…

Sending you so many hugs.
Oh friends, it has been a month hasn’t it? Full transparency, I write my posts for the next week on Friday evenings most times, to kind of get ahead so I can enjoy a weekend of reset. So when I wrote my Monday post on Friday evening I was in a much different headspace than when the weekend was over. I haven’t been around here to post because my mental health has admittedly been terrible this week. If that’s you too, I’m sending you the biggest hugs ever. Today the majority of my city is shutdown for the nationwide boycott…

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (1/26/26)
Happy Monday bookish people! I blinked and it’s nearly the end of January. Somehow this month has simultaneously felt endless and so short at the same time. Probably because I’m trying to balance doing things I enjoy (reading, puzzles, etc.) and staying updated with the goings-on in the world. It’s a wild rollercoaster for sure. Still, here we are at the end of the month! I’m pretty proud of how I did too. Let’s see how things are shaping up! Read Last Week: In my quest to complete NetGalley books I’ve neglected for too long, I borrowed The Nobody People…

Graphic Novel Review: My Life As An Internet Novel, Volume 2
Dani is a fan of cliche-filled internet novels of melodramatic school romance, then wakes up one day to find the world around her has become one! Just as she's getting used to this tropey world, she suddenly finds herself back in her old, ordinary one. What happened to all her new friends? A gorgeous heroine, handsome boys vying for her attention, and a best friend at the heroine’s side. Dani, an ordinary student and avid reader of internet novels, is all too familiar with these tropes. But she never imagined that she’d wake up at the center of one right…
