Top 5 Wednesday: Enemies to Lovers

I found a new to me meme to participate in this week! Man, I love having more time to blog. Truth me told, it’s opened up my creativity a lot and I’m feeling so happy. I digress though. It’s time to make a list! Let’s talk:

#5 Starting strong, at spot number 5 we have Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. I’m pretty sure that this is one the first “enemies to lovers” trope book I read. I loved the fact that Juliette was such a strong character, but that she was also able to let someone else in. Well, eventually. Hahaha. I think I’m due for a reread of this soon!

#4 At number 4 is Get a Life, Chloe Brown which stole my heart almost immediately upon opening it. I don’t know if Chloe and Red are actually enemies exactly. It’s more that Chloe thinks the world is her enemy. But watching Red slowly break down her walls just shattered me into pieces. This book is SO SWEET and well… a little spicy too.

#3 At number 3 sits Daughter of Smoke & Bone, and in fact the entire trilogy, by Laini Taylor. I still remember the first time that I first met Karou and Akiva. It was a whirlwind of falling in love with these books and devouring them as quickly as humanly possible. There is something about a tragic love story that just gets me, but when you add in the fact that the person you love is your enemy? I am dead.

#2 Okay, I lied earlier. Pride and Prejudice is definitely the first “enemies to lovers” book I ever read. In fact, I have read this particular book at least 15 times since then. Elizabeth Bennett remains one of my favorite female characters of all time. Her messy, banter filled, semi-romance with Darcy remains one of my favorite interactions of all time. It’s just brilliant.

#1 Taking that top spot, unsurprisingly, is The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. This book is FIRE. I honestly can’t count the number of people who I have shoved this book at, while mumbling incoherently about SO. MUCH. HEAT. If you’re one of those people, I’m not sorry. You’re welcome. If you haven’t read this yet, get on it! It’s soooooooooooooo good.

That’s it for me! Do you have a favorite enemies to lovers book? Shout it out!
Make my TBR ever larger. Please?
