Books I Missed in 2013

It’s almost 2014!
I’ll be spending the next few days wrapping up things around here, and getting things all shiny for the new year! To start things off, I thought I’d share the Top 5 Books I Missed in 2013. All bookworms know that we can’t read all the books, as much as we’d love to. Here are the five I can’t wait to catch up on in 2014.

Red Hill by Jamie McGuire

I saw amazing things about this book all around the blogging community. Add the fact that I’m a total zombie fanatic, and you have a book that I absolutely can’t wait to read! Anything that has those shambling bastards in it? I’m in.

I’ve also been told that it’s a “classic zombie novel”. So no overstated romance or any of that jazz. Doesn’t matter to me, really. I’ll be reading this in 2014 no matter what!

The Kingdom of Little Wounds by Susann Cokal

I actually have this book in my possession right now, and just haven’t had the time to get to it. I’m not even going to lie, the cover is what drew me in first. Isn’t it lovely? Then I learned that this is a fairy tale revolving around syphilis… interesting, no?

So yes, this will be devoured in the upcoming weeks. Since reviews are so divided on this one, I want to see what side of the fence I fall on as well.

The Severed Tower by J. Barton Mitchell

After reading Midnight City last year, this was one of my most anticipated sequels. I waited, and waited, and waited some more. Then my library finally had a copy and I was ecstatic! Then… I just didn’t have time to read it.

Since then I’ve actually purchased a copy, so I can’t wait to devour this! I fell in love with the world in the first book. Aliens, strong female and male characters, and survival. What’s not to love?

The Year of Shadows by Claire Legrand

I have a self-professed reader crush on Claire Legrand. After reading The Cavendish Home for Boys and Girls, and realizing that her writing is magical, I was sold. This book sat on my “most wanted” list all year, and yet I never got around to it.

Not to worry, that shall be remedied very very soon.

Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke

Serious cover love for this book. Every time I see it sitting on a self in Barnes & Noble I have to stand and stare for a bit. *happy sigh*

Story of my life, but I just never had a chance to read this one. The library wait list was endless, which is a good sign I’m sure, but I didn’t have the time to wait. I will have you soon my pretty… I will have you.

Well, there you have it my friends.
Five deliciously tempting books just waiting for me to devour them in 2014! I love doing this post every year because it reminds me of what I want to catch up on, and it helps a lot with the TBR challenge I do every year as well! Awesome on both counts.
Is there anything that you missed this year? Anything you’re looking forward to getting to in 2014?
