Hanging In There?

Hello again bookish friends, I’m here hoping that you’re holding it together and that you had a nice relaxing long weekend. I know things have been tough for a lot of us these last few weeks, and I’d be lying to you if I tried to say I was operating like normal. I am not. The world is not normal, so how could I be? What I am trying to do is just find joy in the little things, and that’s what getting me through each day.
My birthday came and went, and honestly I had the best birthday I’ve had in a long time. Which was really refreshing. My friends came, we ate and laughed and played Jack Box. And everyone gave me such thoughtful gifts that reminded me how lucky I really am to have all these wonderful people in my life. Getting older reminds you that a good life is built around good people. I’m so pleased to have found mine.
Of course some of those gifts were book related! I took myself book shopping this weekend and already powered through half of Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman. Spoooooooky book. Highly recommend it if you, like me, like to use horror stories as a way to escape real life. There’s something so sinister about seeing a haunting through a child’s eyes. This book is not one you want to read before bed.
Anyway I’m here. My motivation has been so low, but I’m here. As I said, I hope you’re all doing okay too. Keep reading, and take care of one another.
