Back to the old grind

Ah, January. I know everyone sees it a fresh start. New year, new me, and all that. To me though, January is still a month of cold, wet weather and a feeling of stagnancy. I want to be bundled up in blankets, paw through story books, and take long weekend naps. Self improvement is so far off in the future in my mind still. It’s a season of rest, and healing. My “better self” can wait until March.

Our work has also called everyone back into the office three days a week, so we’re still hybrid but just going in more often. I’ve been going in three days a week for a while though, so for us it’s just kind of the same old same old. However yesterday was a DISASTER. There were too many people for the elevators. Everyone drove, and they ran out of parking. Worst of all our building didn’t plan for the influx in internet usage and our systems lagged all day. Hahaha. Welcome back to the office? I guess? They’ll get their shit together, but man apparently my place of work also wasn’t read for the “new year, new me” mentality.

Anyway, I’m here to tell you I’m starting off the year slowly. I’ve a got a review I’m working on that will probably go up on Friday, but I still haven’t finished a book yet this year. I’m not stressed about it! Like I said, it’s still a season of slowness and calm in my brain. I’ll finish the book I’m reading when I finish it. Happily, I have some amazing graphic novels in the queue as well so that’ll help me get myself back up and running.

Until then, it’s back to the old grind. Doing the best I can every day, and just going with the flow.

Here’s hoping your year is starting off softly too.
