Book Blitz: Fracture by Başar Görür

Bookish friends, gather around. It’s time for another fabulous book blitz! This time around it’s all about political thrillers, and the spotlight is on Fracture by Başar Görür. You’ll see it in the synopsis, but this is the kind of book that is likely to keep you on the edge of your seat. Check it out, and add it your reading list!

A murdered diplomat. A dying man’s cryptic message. A conspiracy that could shatter NATO.

When U.S. geopolitical strategist Roger ‘Simms’ Osbourne receives word that his colleague and friend Aslı Green has been killed, he inherits more than grief. He inherits her secret: evidence of a sophisticated Russian operation that sank a Ukrainian tanker and made it look like an accident.

Sent to London to sell a critical NATO surveillance system, Simms quickly discovers his official mission is compromised. A powerful British political faction, backed by shadowy money and royal connections, is determined to see him fail. The deeper he digs into Aslı’s murder, the more he realizes the two threats are connected.

Forced to abandon the rulebook, Simms assembles an unlikely alliance: his embattled team, a mysterious operative named Katya who knows too much, and assets on both sides of the law. Together, they uncover a sprawling network funneling Russian profits through international shell companies to fuel a political war against the West.

But Russian Admiral Sidorov isn’t waiting for the dust to settle. His devastating military demonstration exposes NATO’s vulnerabilities and humiliates the alliance on the world stage. And lurking beneath it all is an even darker secret: Chinese technology at the heart of Russia’s most advanced weapons.

Now Simms must wage war on three fronts: political, financial, and military. Because if he fails, his friend died for nothing. And the next strike won’t be disguised as an accident.

EXCERPT 3: THE ESCAPE

Tuesday, August 26, 17:30 Local Time | Dubai, UAE

The heat in the Dubai Mall garage pressed down on Katya’s skin like a physical weight. The air was damp with concrete moisture, raw fuel, and the chemical sting of engines cooling too quickly. She walked through the rows of pillars at a shopper’s pace. Running would draw attention. A tote bag rested under her arm, lighter now that the fountain pen was gone.

She had passed the location to Aslı weeks earlier. The Americans would have it by now. Her last task was to disappear.

Ahead, a freight ramp curled upward toward the surface.

Then she saw them.

Two black SUVs were positioned nose-out at the mouth of the ramp, angled just enough to form a clean firing line. A third engine idled deeper inside the garage, rumbling just below the threshold of perception. The men were not local rent-a-cops. Their posture gave them away: balanced, waiting. SVR, not mall security.

One stepped out from the driver’s side of the left vehicle. His uniform was civilian-grade, clean khaki. His hand hovered near his hip, where Katya knew a weapon waited. Another man mirrored him on the right.

Her heart did not race. It grew heavier. The rhythm thudded against her chest like a muffled drum. She knew this setup. It was textbook Spetsnaz interdiction.

She did not slow down. Slowing would acknowledge the trap. Instead, she angled closer to a nearby pillar. Her thumb found the zipper on the tote. Her other hand wrapped around the key fob for the silver Porsche 911 parked two cars away.

“Stop, please,” said the man on the left. His voice was calm. One hand was raised in a neutral gesture that meant nothing at all.

She stopped. The zipper slid open. Her fingers wrapped around a small, solid object at the bottom of the bag.

From behind the second SUV, a new voice barked in Russian. “Лево!” Left.

Two more men emerged from the far side of another pillar. One carried a compact carbine. She spotted Cyrillic lettering stitched into a cloth tab on the sling.

She dropped the tote.

Their eyes flicked to the falling bag. That half-second was all she needed. She stepped behind the pillar and pressed the fob. The cylinder left her hand and rolled across the floor. It came to rest between the front men.

A sharp white flash detonated. Then a blast of shrill, disorienting sound. The men recoiled, instincts overtaking training.

Katya moved.

Three lunging strides brought her to the Porsche just as it beeped. She yanked the door open and dove inside.

The man on the left reached for the door, still half-blind. She slammed it shut just before his hand reached the handle. The man with the carbine raised his weapon.

She jammed the key into the ignition and turned it hard.

The Porsche roared awake. She dropped it into gear.

The man fired. A tight burst rang off the garage walls. One round chewed into a tire, but the sidewall held.

She floored it. The Porsche fishtailed, the wheels sliding on damp concrete before finally finding grip.

She corrected the slide and forced the car through the gap between the SUVs. The mirrors clipped both trucks. Glass shattered, but the path opened in front of her. The ramp tilted upward, and the car surged ahead.
