It’s all about that summer sunshine

Happy Monday awesome people! This is the first week in a few months that the temps have started climbing again, which is actually out of the ordinary. Usually by now we’re up into at least the mid 80’s consistently but the weather has actually been really mild and lovely. I am not complaining, trust me. It’s been so nice to be able to have the windows open more often, and honestly to be able to go for walks in other parts of the day besides just the early morning or evening. Plus this weather is conducive to me going outside and reading in my hammock so…. you will not hear me complain at all.
My reading has picked up a bit again too! I’m still not reading nearly as quickly as I normally do, but I’ve still finished 30 books so far this year. I have to remind myself that is honestly a lot of books. Especially since the average person barely reads a single book a year. It has also been really refreshing that I’ve enjoyed the vast majority of what I’ve read so far this year immensely. When I used to read 100+ books a year sometimes I’d have to slog through things I didn’t really love for the good of reviews. I’m so glad to be done with that life. It made reading a chore.
Honestly, my big goal this year is just to keep reading the books that I actually own. Slowly reading and weeding, and making my bookshelf into a place full of my favorites that I want to have around me all the time. Ever since I switched to mostly using the library for new reads, it has been so much easier to curb my book buying habit. I really only buy things I know I’ll love (my autobuy authors, like Stephen King) and copies of things I already love and don’t own yet. This leaves lots of funds set aside to buy ebook copies of things from my lovely Indie author friends, which is a whole other joy I’ve discovered. It’s been really lovely.
How about you? Are you a book buyer? A library aficionado? I mixture of both?
