Heatwave Life

We’re on day five of an insane heatwave here in Southern California, and I am going slowly insane. Yesterday, with humidity, it was 115 degrees. Like… what? WHO? I moved away from the desert on purpose to avoid temperatures like that, and they are so very much made worse by humidity. I’m so thankful we now live in a house with A/C and that we have blackout curtains. We’ve been living in a cave, but at least it’s a cool cave.

The one benefit to being trapped inside by the heat is that I have more time to catch up on things like tv shows, video games, and the audio books that I’ve been half neglecting for ages. I’m in the middle of Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher right now and I am IN LOVE. It’s the perfect kind of dark fairy tale that I’ve been looking for, for a long while. It’s been helping me get through the times where all I want to do is lay flat on the bed and not move. Because moving = sweating and just, no thank you.

On another happy note, I had a chance to sit down and plan a bit more about what I want this blog to look like in the upcoming year. I’m going to take a big step back from new releases, and try to pick up with all the backlog books I’ve had sitting. I also want to start hosting interviews and book excerpts again, so I’m looking forward to that too! We’ll see where the moment takes us.

Anyway, just me rambling. I hope that if you’re on the 3rd day of this long weekend you’re enjoying it! I hope that you’re staying cool and, as always, I hope you’ve found something good to read.
