Interviewing Maddi from Shattered Souls

A special treat today on the blog! Mary Lindsey, author of the gorgeously written Shattered Souls, is here to share one of her characters with us!

I devoured this book, and if you haven’t already added it to your wishlist I highly suggest you do. (My review is here and you can win at Goodreads here!) In the meantime though, take a peek at Maddi’s inner workings.

Enjoy!

Hi Maddi! Thanks for dropping in. Let’s start with
something fun. If you made the front page, what would the headline say?
Local Protector
Chosen “Best Dressed” at Rodeo
So, you’ve spent a long time with Race. What’s the most
annoying thing about him?
He borrows my
clothes. Just kidding. What bugs me the most is he is addicted to junk food.
It’s gonna kill him early—unless I kill him first.
What’s your favorite way to bug Alden?
Race and I love to
try to set him up with girls. We’ve done this every cycle. It really pisses him
off.
Since you’ve been around awhile, tell me, what’s been the
most interesting thing you’ve seen?
I’ll be honest with
you, I’ve seen some crazy stuff over my lifetimes, but the most interesting
thing has been the difference in Rose…or Lenzi or whatever she’s calling
herself this cycle. It’s freakish.
And finally, what’s the best part about what you do?
I’m going to quote
Lenzi, here. I like to “kick bogeyman butt.”

A thrilling debut story of death, love, destiny and danger

Lenzi hears voices and has visions – gravestones, floods, a boy with steel gray eyes. Her boyfriend, Zak, can’t help, and everything keeps getting louder and more intense. Then Lenzi meets Alden, the boy from her dreams, who reveals that she’s a reincarnated Speaker – someone who can talk to and help lost souls – and that he has been her Protector for centuries.

Now Lenzi must choose between her life with Zak and the life she is destined to lead with Alden. But time is running out: a malevolent spirit is out to destroy Lenzi, and he will kill her if she doesn’t make a decision soon.
